What should a robot in a Nigerian workshop actually be good at
Most industrial robotics assumes a factory floor that looks nothing like the workshops where the work is really done.
Industrial robotics is designed around a controlled factory: reliable power, flat floors, fixed layouts, repeatable parts. Very little of that describes the workshops where most fabrication and repair actually happens here.
So the question is not how to import a robot. It is what a machine designed for these conditions would be good at. Intermittent power, dust, uneven surfaces, jobs that change daily, and an operator who is skilled but has no interest in learning a programming language.
We would rather hear from people who work in these spaces than from a specification sheet. What is the task you would hand to a machine tomorrow if one existed?
